How would you invest 1000 dollars into crypto for 2018

Hello all. I am relatively new to the crypto currency scene and was wondering how you would invest 1000 dollars into various coins.

I was thinking about doing this

500 - NEO 300 - IOTA 200 - Ethereum

Does this sound like a smart investment.

If not please state why
