Hi Reddit, the other day I came across the Mobilink coin ICO. From the start I’ve had a bad feeling about this ICO. I’ve put some time and effort into researching the ICO and found some very interesting points showing this project is a potential scam. The team is currently actively promoting its project in an attempt to attract potential investors to their project. I want to make everyone aware of the shady side of this project, please read through my post and make up your own mind.
Based on my findings the Mobilink coin ICO is a shady project, here’s why:
- There is no actual proof from partners whom they state to work with. There are some very big names mentioned in here, none stating proof of collaboration. Upon further questioning one of the team members states that they are under an NDA and are unable to share details on partnerships until after the end of the ICO.
- They claim that the platform will be compatible with carriers in 190 countries. This is an incredibly big challenge to do so. Combining this with the fact that no proper explanations on technical details of their system are given it seems highly unlikely for this project to eventually be realized.
- As of currently there is no trustworthy demo showcasing their project. This shows that their case is currently nothing more than an idea. The technical developments needed to realize the idea are one of the most challenging aspects in the project. Currently there is no actual proof that the team can develop a working platform. The demos that are shown by Mobilink show how a sim card is inserted into a phone, which then shows ‘Bell – Mobilink’. This demo is what they use as their evidence of a working system. However, what is shown in the video does not provide any evidence at all since everything in the video can simply be manipulated. For instance, the network name that is shown on the lock screen and the information bar can easily be changed into any text. This can be done with a rooted phone and using apps like Xposed Installer and Xblast Module. Unfortunately, due to limited time and limited resources I was unable to make a sample video showing how I would modify a phone myself to bust their ’evidence’. However, this video shows how the two apps are used, in my opinion this already provides enough evidence to conclude their demo videos are not trustworthy.
- For the majority of the team members that I’ve researched I was unable to find any information that was not in some way linked to Mobilink. This seems to be shady since they claim their team members all have a fair share of experience outside of the Mobilink project. Searching for this however does not show any signs of this. In addition to this I have attempted to reach out to some of the team members through Linkedin, however, I have not yet been able to get a hold of them.
- Some of the team members have a history with another crypto project, called UAHPAY. This project has been labeled as a scam since the team seems to have taken the money and left the project to be abandoned. For more information on this you can do a google search this yourself.
- Their social media channels are full of artificial activity. You can for example very easily see this when you go to the /r/Mobilinkcoin subreddit. Here you will see a whole lot of random accounts either posting about how great they find the project, or simply posting where they are from. None of these posts actually have any explanation on why they think seem to think the project has potential, which might just be the biggest sign off.
- In general, the whitepaper does not look like one of a company potentially worth $240 million. The general layout is simplistic, and the actual contents do not include any information how they plan to realize their promises.
- Upon asking technical questions on how the platform works no answers are given (telegram chat).
- Upon posting critical comments on their project in one of their reddit threads the comments was deleted within a matter of minutes. In addition to this comments from other users were deleted as well, showing they are not open for critique/discussion.
- Mobilink states they will continue development of their project even if they do not reach their ICO soft cap. If they do not manage to reach the funds where will they get the necessary minimum $20m from?
I encourage everyone to do their own research and to make up your own mind on this project. I hope I have been able to share detailed enough information to give a good impression of my findings. If there are any matters you’d like to discuss with me please leave a comment and I’ll try to answer it as soon as possible.
