Once you can get the same people who buy skins in CS:GO to understand the concept of HODL'ing it will have the market explode.
The only time I ever hear about crypto irl is from tech-guys who sit and code all day in a dark room. And when they explain the concept and the methods for buying/trading crypto to new people, it all sounds so overwhelming at first. You buy this there with a bank transaction(if your bank allows), then you send THAT currency to this other website where you then convert/trade it for ANOTHER currency.
Oh and then you have to have this encrypted wallet, and I recommend you buy this 100 dollar USB-stick that can hold your virtual coins (Say what?????).
Oh and you can't trust this and that website and exchanges get hacked constantly.
It's hard to just get a streamlined answer in the crypto-community, there's always a billion hurdles presented. Especially at first glance. Keeps people away.
Coinbase listings are massive because they're the one crypto website that mimics a typical online shop the most. People want to buy coins like they buy a book or a t-shirt. Quick verification. Credit/debit-card payment. Done. Straightforward and no hassle, without presenting one caveat after the other.
Also, articles on news websites that read "Meet the man who became a BILLIONAIRE on cryptocurrency" help a great deal in getting people interested - rather than headlines that read "meet the people who say cryptocurrency is the future because banks are bad".
There is no point in having an elitist view on this sphere. Crypto should work like any other e-market, and people need to be told that it is a simple process.
