This thread is somewhat less negative about XVG than is typical here, but please hold of the downvotes untill you've actually read it.
There have been a number of topics on this sub about people complaining about how toxic this sub has become, and I tend to agree with them. A perfect example is how people treat coins like Verge, which I get is in a rough spot because of it's recent attacks. And as someone who owns Verge in my portfolio, I agree completely with a lot - if not most - of the criticism it's been getting.
However this recent thread about a third 51% attack is a perfect example of why communities such as the one from Verge simply don't believe what is said untill more information has come out. That topic simply offers no proof. The article points to the following thread https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3256693.1340 , which I'm sure most people commenting to bash on Verge again (or upvote without reading because hey ... f*ck XVG!) havn't even bothered to read the article, let alone the forum thread that's referenced. And that, to me, is a perfect example of how shitty this community is at times.
Now when I first saw that topic I thought, third time? Yeah I'm done. Untill I looked into the thread and other people pointed out it was pretty much normal behavior (averaging 102 blocks per hour right now, out of 120. Which seems normal) and nothing near similar to the previous 51% attacks. But everyone is so quick to jump on the bandwagon.
How do you think that comes across to people who have invested in Verge? If you honestly want crypto's to succeed and care about good projects and people's investments that might help boost those good projects, you can't act like children whenever something like this happens. And if you're going to post a thread about something as serious as this, you have to offer more proof than one person sharing a log with every other comment after that one in the thread saying it doesn't look like a 51% attack at all.
So please. At least have someone who actually knows what they are talking about make such a serious topic and provide the necessary proof if you want this sub to actually be taken serious and not just a bandwagon of people shitting on coins they don't like. Today it's Verge, tomorrow it's Nano, Tron, -yourcoinhere-, etc ... Enough already.
UPDATE Turns out it was literally fake news and no third attack actually happened. I hate to say it, but it seems like it was actual FUD. And the original thread on this sub with over 1000 upvotes, has been removed. Seriously ... that it made it that far without anyone even bothering to question it should tell you this sub needs to be more critical. Is XVG a shitcoin? Maybe. Probably. But that doesn't excuse any of this.
